carrots sustenance

Meet the hard working team (+ fairy whisperer).

From the ground up

Our story doesn’t start with a long line of family farmers.

Or even a pre-existing notion that organic food is all that.

But over the last 15+ years of growing food for our friends, family, and community, we truly can’t see ourselves doing anything else.

We farm for food independence, we farm for social justice, we farm for mama earth, we farm for our ancestors, and we farm for love. ♥️

Mālama o ka ʻĀina - Take care of the land.
Tikkun olam -תיקון עולם‎ - Repair the world.
Mata våra människor - Feed our People.
Ní neart go cur le chéile. - No strength without unity.

Lilinoe

Lili is a social butterfly, which drives her vision for Sustenance as a community hub. She totally believes that eating together makes us better and she has an unending supply of love and energy at her table.

In addition to getting down and dirty in the fields, Lili manages the marketing, events, bookkeeping, vendor relationships, and everything else that comes along.

Seth

Seth was raised by a family who always had a veggie garden, berry bushes, and fruit trees growing up (I mean, we all know it was his mom, Dale, but we’ll give the rest of you some side credit).

Childhood memories of basil pesto and fresh picked blueberry pies got him thinking… maybe there IS something to growing our own food!

Since then, he has spent more than a decade in and out of the crazy world of organic farming, trying to figure out the sweet spot between having a viable, living wage farm and creating access for ALL to have this kind of sustenance.

Jonas

At the age of 7, Jonas has decided he hates farming. Apparently, it is too much boring work. He does love the bounty though, so for now he is content with harvesting jobs, which isn’t a sustainable situation for us since he eats all the profits. 🥦

He does, however, have a knack for math and money so, if you need a price check, please contact his department.

Juniper

Pretty much our QUEEN! Our farm is only viable because Juniper asks the fairies 🧚🏾‍♀️to keep our plants healthy and sings to them as her exchange. Her main job is to host balls for all of our magical friends and create beautiful crayon creations. If you ask to see the manager, you’ll definitely be dealing with her.
